Blueleaf Energy, a leading pan-Asian renewable energy platform, has joined key associations in Japan working to support Japan’s decarbonization: the Energy Resource Aggregation Business Association (ERA), the Japan Climate Leaders’ Partnership (JCLP), and the Renewable Energy Association for Sustainable Power Supply (REASP). Recognizing the growing energy demands as well as decarbonization needs of Japan’s digital infrastructure, Blueleaf Energy has also joined the JDCC to promote the powering of the nation’s data centers with renewable energy, to drive decarbonization in one of the nation’s most important sectors. These memberships underscore Blueleaf Energy’s commitment to advancing Japan’s net-zero goals and accelerating the country’s energy transition.
Blueleaf Energy is targeting to add 1 GW of renewable energy capacity to Japan by 2030 and is eager to collaborate with fellow members of ERA, JCLP, REASP, and JDCC to help the drive progress on achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.
“We recognize that open dialogue and collaboration are essential to accelerate the energy transition,” said Masaki Watanabe, Head of Business Development for Blueleaf Energy in Japan. “By joining ERA, JCLP, REASP and JDCC we are reinforcing our commitment to playing a key role in Japan’s journey to carbon neutrality. Together with our partners, fellow association members, and the communities in which we operate, we look forward to building a future powered by clean energy for Japan.”
About Energy Resource Aggregation Business Association (ERA)
ERA was established in 2023 with the aim of promoting the sound development of businesses that utilize distributed energy resources (DER), such as renewable energy sources (solar power, wind power, etc.) and storage batteries, which are essential for the expansion of the use of renewable energy and the realization of carbon neutrality. A wide range of industries participate in ERA, among them: wholesale supply businesses, energy companies, manufacturers, system vendors, financial institutions, and experts involved in the use of distributed energy resources (DER). About Japan Climate Leaders’ Partnership (JCLP)
JCLP was established in 2009 as a unique Japanese corporate group based on the recognition that industry should have a healthy sense of crisis and take proactive action to achieve a decarbonized society. It has 252 members (as of December 2024), including Japanese companies representing a wide range of industries. The total sales of JCLP’s member companies is approximately 157 trillion yen, and the total electricity consumption is approximately 78 TWh (reference and approximate values including overseas). About Renewable Energy Association for Sustainable Power Supply (REASP)
REASP was established in 2019 with the aim of expanding the use of renewable energy and creating a society where this source of power can be used to create a sustainable clean-energy future. REASP brings together a wide range of players (power generation companies, financial institutions, manufacturers, construction companies, electricity retailers, consultants, consumers, etc.) which draw from a broad range of renewable energy power sources (i.e. solar, wind, biomass, geothermal, hydro, etc.). About Japan Data Center Council (JDCC)
JDCC was established in 2008 with the aim of pursuing the ideal form of data centers that support the foundations of an IT-based nation. The urgent task facing Japan’s data centers is to evolve into ones that are internationally competitive in terms of cost, performance, safety and reliability. The Japan Data Center Council aims to pursue the ideal form of data centers that support the foundations of an IT-based nation by forming an organization that includes data center operators and major data center-related businesses, and by having each business work together horizontally and vertically to solve the above issues. It has 380 members (as of March 2025). To learn more about JDCC, visit: www.jdcc.or.jp.
