Blueleaf Energy appoints Investment Director in the Philippines

Blueleaf Energy has recently appointed Christopher Rainier O. Chua as Investment Director of Blueleaf Energy Philippines.

Chris joins an expanding team of experienced renewable energy professionals in Blueleaf Energy Philippines. In addition to advancing the company’s existing near-term opportunities, which include utility-scale, ground-mounted and floating solar plants in the country, Blueleaf Energy is boosting its portfolio with onshore and battery storage projects.

Chris has over 15 years of experience in the power industry, focused on project and deal origination, M&A as well as commercial and asset management across various thermal and renewables investments in Southeast Asia.

Prior to joining Blueleaf Energy, Chris was part of two pioneer groups which established Meralco Powergen Corporation (MGen) and UPC Renewables Asia. He has spent over 11 years with MGen where he headed the Business Development – Domestic Markets Team of MGreen, a renewable energy platform of MGen/Global Business Power, that has over 1GW of pipeline projects in development. In MGen, he oversaw the acquisition of an 800MW LNG plant based in Singapore and headed the development of a 1.2GW Ultra Super-Critical power plant project in the Philippines, bringing it from early development stage to shovel-ready status within 3 years.

The latest appointment of Chris will bring his business and project development experience to complement the Blueleaf Energy team in the Philippines and expand the country’s portfolio of renewable energy projects and customers for the organization’s next phase of growth in the region.
