Conergy, one of the region’s largest downstream solar companies, has designed and installed a 145 kWp solar power system for one of the most iconic landmarks in Singapore’s skyline, Marina Bay Sands, one of Asia’s leading destinations for business, leisure and entertainment. This marks the first commercial-scale rooftop installation for Conergy in Singapore and the highest location in the country that the company has fitted panels on thus far, at 200m above sea level.

With solar panels lining the roofs of the iconic Sands SkyPark and covering an area of 880 sqm, Marina Bay Sands will be able to reduce carbon emissions by 70 tons every year. Conergy collaborated with Asiatic Engineering Pte Ltd for the local installation and construction of this rooftop system.

Alexander Lenz, Conergy CEO said: “This project is a milestone for Conergy in Singapore, as it is our first commercial-scale rooftop installation in the country, as well as the highest at 200m above sea level. We are very pleased to work with Marina Bay Sands, a leader in sustainability within the hospitality industry, on this significant achievement for such an iconic landmark that is recognized the world over.”

Hendrik Bohne, Conergy’s VP for EPC adds, “We are delighted to work with Marina Bay Sands and support their sustainability efforts while demonstrating that solar energy is a reliable and economically competitive resource. I am also very proud to share this accomplishment with the entire Conergy team who contributed in executing this project, generating a positive impact in Singapore.”

Kevin Teng, Executive Director of Sustainability at Marina Bay Sands, said: “Marina Bay Sands is always looking for ways to better manage our energy consumption by harnessing technology and implementing innovative measures. This project is another step towards our commitment to operating sustainably, as we continue to explore the use of alternative energy sources and minimize our carbon footprint.”
