シンガポールで開催されたフィリピン大統領フェルディナンド・ロムアルデス・マルコス・ジュニアの国賓訪問中の公式ビジネス円卓会議で、マッコーリー・キャピタルはブルーリーフ・エナジーを通じてフィリピンに投資する意向表明書（LOI）を締結しました。ブルーリーフ・エナジーはサンアジアとの提携により、ラグナ湖で最大1.3GWの浮体式太陽光発電プロジェクトの初期ポートフォリオ開発に着手します。本件はこの種のプロジェクトとしては世界最大規模となる可能性があります。
ブルーリーフ・エナジーは、フィリピンですでに再生可能エネルギープロジェクト開発を手がけており、今回の浮体式太陽光発電プロジェクトは、同社の開発パイプライン2GWの一部を構成し、年間160万トン以上のCO2削減に貢献することになります。今後5年間でプロジェクトに必要な総投資額は20億米ドル以上で、同国のエネルギー安全保障ニーズに応えるための現地サプライチェーンの開発を含め地元でピーク時の建設フェースでは1,000人以上、長期的な運用フェーズでは200人以上の雇用を創出することが期待されています。
この円卓会議にはシンガポールのビジネスリーダーが出席し、ブルーリーフ・エナジーによるラグナ湖浮体式太陽光発電プロジェクトの12億ドルを含めた合計65億4,000万ドルの投資誓約がなされました。
ブルーリーフ・エナジーのCEOであるラグラム・ナタラジャンは、「ラグナ湖浮体式太陽光発電プロジェクトへの投資は、地球温暖化の影響を緩和するという大統領の公約を実現するものであり、私たちの力を合わせれば、フィリピンがより容易に排出量実質ゼロの未来に移行できると信じています。私たちは、フィリピンにおける再生可能エネルギープロジェクトの開発において、フィリピン政府の関連機関や民間セクターと密接に連携し、各地域のパートナーと協力していく意向です。このプロジェクトが商業化されることで、対応するサプライチェーンにさらなる大きな投資とスキルアップがもたらされることを期待しています」と述べました。
また、サンアジアのCEOであるTetchi Capellanは、「このパートナーシップにより、ブルーリーフ・エナジーのファイナンスおよび技術的な専門知識と、SunAsiaの地域開発経験が融合されることになります。この協力関係によって、グリーンエネルギープロジェクトをサポートするための大規模な投資がフィリピンに行われ、フィリピンの再生可能エネルギー導入目標に大きく貢献できることを期待しています」と話しました。
